Vivek Siva—Mervin Solomon is India’s youngest music directing duo consisting of Vivek Siva and Mervin Solomon. They have worked together on Tamil language and Telugu films, including Vadacurry (2014), Pugazh (2016),Dora (2017) and Gulebakavali (2017).
Vivek Siva trained as a classical musician and performed with numerous bands during his school and college days. Mervin Solomon had worked as a music producer from Chennai, and scored music for albums in gospel and classical genres. He also freelanced worked as a programmer in various Tamil movie projects. Vivek, Mervin and Anirudh are from the band Zinx. Vivek and Mervin later worked as a music programmers and mix engineer for Anirudh Ravichander on all his projects. For their debut project, Vadacurry (2014), they were picked after Yuvan Shankar Raja had opted out of the film. Anirudh had recommended Vivek – Mervin’s name to the film’s producer Dayanidhi Alagiri, following which they were signed on.
The songs and the background score was well received by the audience and reviewers. The song Nenjukulla nee became an instant hit and topped the charts. The song also won the best singer award for Vijay Prakash in BIG FM Tamil Music Awards, 2015. The Song also marked the debut of the super singer winner Diwarkar who has co-sung the song along with Ajeesh. The album had Anirudh Ravichander sing a song which featured Sunny Leone for the first time in Tamil.
In their second project, Pugazh (2016), the duo brought in Hindi singer Arijit Singh for his first Tamil song. They also collaborated with singers Hariharan and Chitra for this album.
